NOW RECRUITING · EXPERT CONSULTANT & FACILITATOR NETWORK
Bring your expertise to the educators shaping what learning looks like next.
CALIE is building a network of subject matter experts and facilitators to design and lead transformative professional learning. If your work helps educators, leaders, and systems do better by every learner — we want to hear from you.
We exist to inspire learning that transforms what’s possible for every student.
CALIE (the California Association for Leading Innovation in Education) is the statewide community for anyone who supports teaching, learning, and innovation. Formerly known as CUE, our four decades of work have connected thousands of educators with the tools, ideas, and people they need to move learning forward.
We don’t just train teachers — we help build the conditions for lasting change. Our expert network is how we do that at scale.
“CALIE gave me the platform to bring the work I’ve been doing for years to educators who needed it most.”

Questions, answered.
Who is this network for?
This network is for experienced educators, coaches, consultants, researchers, and practitioners who have a track record of supporting educator growth. If your work focuses on improving teaching, learning, or leadership in schools and systems, we want to hear from you.
Do I need to be based in California?
Not necessarily. While our work is primarily focused on California schools and districts, we welcome applicants from outside the state who have relevant expertise. Some engagements are virtual and open to anyone; others may require travel or in-person presence.
Is this a full-time position?
No. Network membership is contract-based. You choose the engagements that fit your schedule and expertise. There’s no minimum commitment required to be part of the network.
How does compensation work?
Compensation is contract-based and varies by engagement type, scope, and your level of experience. We’ll discuss rates as part of the onboarding process once you’re accepted into the network.
What happens after I apply?
Our team reviews all applications on a rolling basis. If there’s a potential fit, we’ll reach out to schedule a conversation to learn more about your background and interests. From there, we’ll work to match you with appropriate engagements as they arise.
How quickly will I hear back?
We review applications regularly but may not be able to respond to everyone immediately. If you haven’t heard from us within a few weeks, feel free to follow up at consulting@joincalie.org.
Can I apply if I’m currently working full-time in a school or district?
Yes. Many of our network members continue in their full-time roles while taking on contract engagements with CALIE. We work to ensure scheduling is manageable and that engagements don’t conflict with your primary responsibilities.
What kinds of organizations does CALIE work with?
We work with K-12 schools, district leadership teams, county offices of education, charter networks, state agencies, and nonprofit partners — primarily across California, with some national work as well.
Is there a formal vetting or interview process?
Yes. All network members go through a review and conversation process before being onboarded. We want to make sure there’s a strong fit — for both you and for the clients we serve.
What does it mean to be part of the CALIE network beyond individual engagements?
Beyond project work, network members get access to CALIE events, professional learning opportunities, and a community of practitioners doing similar work across the state. We see this as a long-term relationship, not just a contractor list.
What should I prepare before I apply?
The application takes about 20–30 minutes. Before you sit down to fill it out, it helps to have a few things ready:
- Your professional basics: name, current role, and a link to your website or LinkedIn
- 2–4 brief examples of your impact: the context you worked in, who you supported, and what changed as a result
- Your areas of expertise (AI in education, instructional design, SEL, leadership development, etc.)
- A description of your facilitation or learning design experience: the audience types, formats, and whether you work virtually, in person, or both
- An optional work sample such as a framework, resource, lesson, or recording that shows how you think
- Your availability and engagement preferences: virtual vs. in-person, short-term vs. ongoing
Ready to bring your expertise to the network?
We’re looking for educators and experts who are ready to make a bigger impact. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
